On Reducing the Complexity of Illumination Cones for Face Recognition
نویسندگان
چکیده
In our previous work [1], we have demonstrated how to arrange physical lighting so that the acquired images of a human face can be directly used as the basis vectors of a lowdimensional linear space. The “universal configuration” computed in [1] has been shown to provide a good basis for face recognition under a wide range of lighting conditions. In this paper, we propose a more rigorous formulation of the problem of computing the universal configuration. We propose a new objective function Ob and define the domain of Ob, in which we seek our universal configuration. Recognition experiments and other results reported in the paper have validated this new approach.

From 2D to 3D: Using Illumination Cones to Build 3d Face Model
To solve the problem derivate by lighting condition and position of the camera, a new method using illumination cones to build 3d face model has been proposed. Due to illumination variability, the same object can show dramatic difference even as being viewed in fixed pose. To handle this variability, an object recognition system must employ a representation that is either invariant to, or can m...

Varying illuminations, especially the side lighting effects in face images, is one of the major obstacles in face recognition systems. Various methods have been presented for face recognition under different lighting conditions witch require previous knowledge about Light source and shadow area. In this paper, a novel approach based on H-minima transform to image segmentation and illumination n...
متن کاملA New Fast and Efficient HMM-Based Face Recognition System Using a 7-State HMM Along With SVD Coefficients
In this paper, a new Hidden Markov Model (HMM)-based face recognition system is proposed. As a novel point despite of five-state HMM used in pervious researches, we used 7-state HMM to cover more details. Indeed we add two new face regions, eyebrows and chin, to the model. As another novel point, we used a small number of quantized Singular Values Decomposition (SVD) coefficients as feature...

In order to change the defects of the similar traditional Retinex algorithm that it is easy to appear the "Halo" phenomenon in the illumination image acquisition process, we proposed a study on the face images recognition under the illumination condition based on the improved Retinex Algorithm, which is based on the Retinex Theory Algorithm defects and analyzes the brightness, contrast rate of ...
متن کاملIllumination Invariance for Local Feature Face Recognition
Illumination invariance is one of the most difficult properties to achieve in a face recognition system. Illumination normalization is a way to solve this problem. Previous research has shown that local normalization methods are capable of reducing the error rates significantly even when there are extreme illumination changes [1]. In this paper we propose an improvement to the local feature fac...
